About Kagosai®
Kagosai® began with a simple love for olive trees.
That love gradually grew into something much bigger—so much so that I found myself doing the work of a gardener.
Today, my rooftop terrace has become a small atelier, where every tree is carefully pruned and shaped almost like a bonsai.
Every week, I visit the plant market to observe what each season brings, searching for healthy young trees and discovering new possibilities.
Rethinking How Olive Trees Can Be Enjoyed
Many plants are traditionally considered suitable only for outdoor cultivation.
Some growers even say,
"They simply can't be grown indoors."
I wanted to challenge that idea.
By experimenting with growing media, cultivation methods, and long-term care, I continue exploring ways to help olive trees thrive beautifully as part of everyday interior living.
Perhaps it is a small challenge—but I hope it brings a little innovation to the world of olive trees.
The Birth of Kagosai®
Through years of experimentation, I realized that beautiful indoor trees needed more than simply attractive pots.
They should also be easy to move, durable enough for everyday living, and naturally complement the interior of a home.
That journey led me to create the signature Kagosai® style:
olive trees gently shaped in handwoven baskets, inspired by the quiet elegance of bonsai.
The name Kagosai reflects this philosophy.
Today, both the Kagosai® name and logo are registered trademarks in Japan, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.
The Logo
The Kagosai® logo was inspired by the silhouette of a basket viewed from above.
Its design is based on the traditional Japanese Aioi-musubi knot, an endless woven pattern that symbolizes harmony, connection, and good fortune.
I designed the logo myself using Adobe Illustrator, combining my love of design with the philosophy behind the brand.
Many customers also choose Kagosai® as a thoughtful gift for housewarmings, business openings, and other special occasions.
How It All Started
Everything began with one simple question.
"Why can't I find a planter that feels just right for an olive tree indoors?"
I loved growing olive trees on the balcony of my apartment.
Watching their evergreen leaves brought me peace every day.
But there was one problem.
My trees lived outside.
I wanted to enjoy them from my living room as well.
That small wish became the beginning of Kagosai®.
Designed for Everyday Living
Every Kagosai® tree is created with four simple ideas in mind.
Lightweight — easy to carry for watering or changing locations.
Durable — safe for homes with children and pets.
Timeless design — elegant without feeling ordinary.
Easy to live with — made to become part of everyday life.
The baskets are intentionally small enough to move with one hand, allowing the trees to follow the changing light, the seasons, and your lifestyle.
More Than Bonsai
The name Kagosai carries several meanings.
It combines the Japanese words for basket, bonsai-inspired styling, seasonal planting, and even small-scale gardening.
Like bonsai, each tree is carefully pruned to maintain its graceful form.
By gently pinching new shoots, the trunk gradually grows stronger and thicker over time.
Every tree continues to evolve together with its owner.
Kagosai® is intentionally small.
Every tree is personally selected, shaped, and cared for by Keiko.
Have fun and enjoy growing with Kagosai®.
